📋 Setup Instructions

Step 1: Get Your Stripe Secret Key

  1. Go to Stripe Dashboard (link below)
  2. Make sure
    Test Mode
    is ON (toggle in top right)
  3. Click on "Developers" → "API Keys"
  4. Find the "Secret key" section
  5. Click "Reveal test key"
  6. Copy the key (starts with sk_test_)

Step 2: Add Secret to Base44

  1. Go to Base44 Dashboard → Settings → Secrets
  2. Click "Add Secret"
  3. Secret Name:
    STRIPE_SECRET_KEY
  4. Secret Value: Paste your Stripe secret key (sk_test_...)
  5. Click "Save"
  6. Wait 5-10 minutes for backend to redeploy

Step 3: Test the Connection

After waiting 10 minutes, click the "Test Connection" button above. You should see a green success message.

Use these test card numbers when testing payments in Test Mode:

Success - Payment goes through

Requires Authentication (3D Secure)

Declined - Insufficient funds

• Use any future expiry date (e.g., 12/25)

• Use any 3-digit CVC (e.g., 123)

• Use any ZIP code (e.g., 90210)

🔧 Troubleshooting

❌ "Secret key not found"

→ Make sure you added the secret with the exact name: STRIPE_SECRET_KEY

❌ "Invalid key format"

→ Make sure your key starts with sk_test_ (not pk_, rk_, or whsec_)

❌ "Still getting errors after adding secret"

→ Wait 10 minutes after adding the secret for backend to redeploy

❌ "Stripe API call failed"

→ Your key might be revoked or invalid. Generate a new one in Stripe Dashboard
